Tooth cleaning aids
Since I qualified in 1982 we are more aware of our dental plaque, which we now rename as oral biofilm. The best way to improve it is to mechanically clean it. These are some products that may help — tap a product to buy it, and watch the video to see why.

TePe PlaqSearch Disclosing Tablets
There is still no better way for checking if your teeth are free from the bugs that cause tooth decay and gum disease than with disclosing tablets or solution. Look at the video for instructions on how to check yourself and the family. Used correctly, this is the most useful and cheapest oral health product you can buy.

Triple Bristle Original Sonic Toothbrush
This is a new toothbrush, and I think it is ideal for carers and those who are losing their manual dexterity in later life. Type in triple bristle for my "research". It's why my mother and myself use both the brush and the toothpaste. There is a manual triple bristle brush which is tolerated better by those living with dementia.

Interdental Brushes
Interdental cleaning is crucial for preventing tooth decay and maintaining gum health, which impacts overall well-being. As we get older our manual dexterity declines, and there are a variety of brush sizes that are easier to slide snugly in between the teeth to help keep the gum healthy.

Super Interspace Brushes
These super interspace brushes have a variety of uses. And while less effective than an interdental brush, they are better than a manual brush in areas throughout the mouth when the teeth are crowded. They are also required around dental implants in the manner shown in the video. You just have to know where the implants are. They are also used to apply tooth mousse directly on sensitive or compromised teeth.

GOOLUC Ozone Water Flosser
Oral water flossers have had mixed success. This particular model claims to ozone the water, potentially oxygenating it to eliminate harmful anaerobic bacteria. They are particularly beneficial for older adults and recommended for implant maintenance, as implants require three times more care than natural teeth.

ergoProx Interdental Cleaner
Testimonial — Jon M.: The ergoProx is the perfect tool for cleaning the back surface of my remaining molars, quickly and effectively (confirmed by my hygienist). Success. The product is also hard wearing and long lasting, something the manufacturer might prefer not to hear but I congratulate them for it.
