Carers support

You are not alone.

Caring for someone — especially someone living with dementia — is easier with the right support. Here are trusted resources for the person you care for, and for you.

A tip on dentures

It’s almost impossible to make a new set of dentures for someone with later-stage dementia, so plan ahead:

  • Ask your dentist to make a named spare set.
  • Ask a dentist or lab to add a name to the current set.
  • For partial dentures, keep a named photo copy with the care home.
  • You can add a name to the smooth denture surface with a pen and clear varnish (it wears off and needs repeating).
It’s now possible to scan dentures and keep a digital file, so a replica can be made quickly if the originals are lost.

Support, for both of you

Good support protects the person you care for — and you.
